phillip o – acid (original mix)
“I share the belief of many of my contemporaries that the spiritual crisis pervading all spheres of Western industrial society can be remedied only by a change in our world view. We shall have to shift from the materialistic, dualistic belief that people and their environment are separate, toward a new conciousness of an all-encompassing reality, which embraces the experiencing ego, a reality in which people feel their oneness with animate nature and all of creation”
Albert Hoffman.
There is not much I can add to this quote other than… I personally prefer mushrooms and I believe hallucinating is something every human being should experience at least once in their lifes… On a side-note I suggest its done as a way to connect with the earth, not just for recreation.
That said, this track is not about any of these substances, instead its like an hybrid tribute to Acid House and Acid Jazz and what they represent for me… art revolution, doing things differently, spontaneity and improvisation.
Acid will be out on Leed’s imprint LS City Records on Summer 2010 as part of a 2 track EP, my debut EP. Soon more info about this.
LS City Records is a burgeoning UK label who are consistently releasing quality tracks, their roster includes people like Richard Dinsdale, Style Of Eye, Alex Kenji, Lissat & Voltaxx, Benny Royal, to name a few… and their releases get constant support by influential names such as Dubfire, Erick Morillo, Style Of Eye, Robbie Rivera, Fedde Le Grand, Dean Newton, Ant Brooks, to name but a few.
Mandragora
The roots of mandragora bear a resemblance to the human form. Magically speaking, there are male and female mandrakes. The female form, its roots forked and looking like a pair of human legs, is the most sought after. The male, on the other hand, has a single root. It was the female form that was carved in the Middle Ages (in Germany and France) into manikins. It was believed that they brought good luck and wealth. it is worth mentioning that the mandragora flowers are hermaphrodite.

This is my first ever original finished track, Mandragora, is out this week on Sound Mass Records from Turkey, its got support from Ant Brooks, DJ Chus, Eric Entrena, Alex Young, D.Ramirez, Raymundo Rodriguez, Jose Cabello… among others. The people seem to love it, see for yourself on this VIDEO I made on my gig last week at Piso 41 here in Bogota, which explains why UK DJ Jamie Fisher, the head honcho of the burgeoning Leeds label, LS City Records, has charted it on the 3rd spot of his Beatport top 10 for March 2010, adding up to the list of artists who support this massive Tech House cut.
The track comes out on a Various Artists compilation which includes tracks by Sound Mass Artists, of course it couldn’t go without a track by its creator, Utku Dalmaz.
You can read all the buzz its already making in promo-land HERE and you can buy off Beatport HERE
Release Date: Feb 19th 2010 on Beatport.

Luz De Luna!
2010 – Is Disco House Back? is the way Jim Breese from the UK begins his article on his website about our new track Luz De Luna… Being such a good write and having nothing to add to it, I’ll just copy/paste here for you to read yourself…
2010 – Is Disco House Back?
If so, it’s no bad thing. Amongst all of the creativity oozing from House music, it could also be suggested that sometimes, the fundamentals of what it is has been lost.
It’s a vibe & it’s a feeling. One that resonates deep from the dance floor. Looking back to the mid nineties, when I was the other side of the booth, clubbing frequently at ‘The Ministry’ & ‘Wobble,’ the Disco/Filtered sound was huge & it turned the clubbing ‘FUN’ dial to +10. Around this time, I started to DJ & it was tracks such as Todd Terry’s ‘Jumpin’ & DJ Sneak’s ‘Polyester EP’ that were my fail-safes to pull from the back of the stucco. Back then, records were solely about the groove & everything hinged on finding & then working that golden Disco sample.
Fast forward to Feb 2010… I headed to Colombia to play at our very popular Hed Kandi residency at Piso 30. It was also a chance to drop into the studio of Bogota’s rising Tech producer Phillip O. What followed was a couple of days writing, some incredible Colombian food, a spontaneous Sax recording from Ibiza based jazz musician- The Lovely Laura & a truly memorable gig that was rocking till the late AM.
With so many influences, what could a track like this sound like? Straight up, rolling, Disco House of course!
