Elk Musikk is now officially on Beatport, with a bunch of releases already out and a few more to come soon. The launch of the label was fantastic, featuring one of the tracks as one of the picks of the month for House music by the Beatport staff (Thank you!). Huge surprise!
This week saw the Beatport release of ELK26, aka “Diamanten“, which I had been eager to see out. It was meant to be out on June 2nd, but, alas, there were some issues with the distributor… Fortunately they were eventually resolved and we are back on track. I am really hoping Beatport takes notice of this tune, given it has been received so well on other platforms despite my resistance to marketing.
What? 😱 Why no marketing though? 🤔
Well, you see, to put it bluntly: I am weird. I am aware of how limiting and detrimental it is to my career to not really use social media, to not “put myself out there” creating content, to not hire a PR agency and develop a marketing strategy with ads and press and shit… And yet I do not want to do it? Or, at least I have been successful so far at convincing myself not to do any of that? Because… well, such philosophical matters are too long and too complex for my monkey-with-a-typerwriter brain and skills to do it justice in writing here. I don’t think I could even if I tried.
Luckily, far more intelligent people have written about this in a far more eloquent manner than I ever could, so I would refer you to read up stuff by Guy Debord to perhaps get a better sense of my issues with marketing and the alienating concepts of “everyone is a brand” or whatever nonsense the “hustle culture” basically forced on every modern artist (and pretty much everyone at this point), leaving the art as a commodity, just “content” that is secondary, and made only to fill an endless social media feed, hoping to reach a group of equally desperate people eager to be noticed by some algorithm that belongs to a “tech-bro” hog.
Would I also like to be noticed by the aforementioned algorithm that belongs to the tech-bro asshole? Well, of course! lol, it is not like I don’t also live under the violence of neoliberal capitalism and wouldn’t also benefit from a more secure income stream. 😉
Speaking of getting algorithm love, Diamanten is a “victim” of this, cause I have been receiving Google money from it being played as of the time of writing (checks notes) over 717 000 times on YouTube Music and YouTube combined. I am very happy that this is a result of truly organic growth and zero marketing from my behalf. W? Yes, indeed.

Personally: I am fine. I am happy in my marriage, am extremely lucky to have such an incredible woman in my life 💗. I am doing well, I remain being greatly inspired by sunsets. Now living in Norway and the sunsets these late spring days are glorious and long. The days are also long this time of year; there’s sunlight 24/7 up here, it goes from sunset to sunrise like this (snaps fingers). 😂 other than that, still learning, still growing. 👍 Looking forward to the Fall so the temperature decreases a bit! 🥵
So, there you have it, a rare update from me. Perhaps I should do this more often?
